2 Tips for your next engagement session: San Francisco Engagement Session - Grace + Tim

This post is long overdue! Grace and Tim’s engagement session was in September of 2018, and if you don’t know San Francisco is usually still cold and in the normal summer months, but in September it actually warms up.

It was a nice sunny afternoon for us at the magnificent Palace of Fine Arts, every time I come to this beautiful place if amazes me! We ended the session in the presidio, with the sunset shining through the tall cypress trees.

Grace had her bridal and makeup trial that day and it was perfect to come to an engagement session after. I highly encourage all the brides to take advantage of a trial sessions from your bridal makeup and hair artist if they offer one and schedule an engagement session after. You'll get to see how your makeup and hair shows in photos and make necessary adjustments on the wedding day if need to. Tim was looking real sharp in a nice grey suit, it’s always nice when the couple take their time to look good for the photos.

One thing Grace was really worried was the height difference between her and Tim, and I'm so glad she communicated that with me. Communication with your photographer is very important to get the photos you'll love. For Grace and Tim we tried poses of them sitting down, having Tim being so tall, when they are standing I tried to place him behind Grace to make the huge height difference less noticeable.

To conclude today’s tip for your engagement session:

  1. Good communication with your photographer, be open to speak about what you like or don’t like. Show them engagement photos you see online, tell them this is what you’ll looking for or not looking for.

  2. Take advantage of the trial session from your bridal makeup and hair artist. Schedule a trial session and come to an engagement session after, you’ll get to see how your makeup and hair looks in photos and make necessary adjustments if needed on the wedding day.

I hope you’ll enjoy these photos! Next up will be their wedding photos, stay tune!
