Valley Presbyterian Church Wedding, Portola Valley - Cheryl + Mark
Mark and Cheryl's summer wedding in June was held at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Portola Valley. They met years ago at a meetup, Mark was supposed to be set up with someone else, but when he saw Cheryl, he had to get to know her, it had to be serendipity!
After their beautiful church wedding at the Presbyterian, we were heading over to Mark's parents' house for a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. That's where the bride and groom give parents respect, and they receive advice and gifts in return. I love it when the couple keeps the family tradition alive, not to mention all the delicious food at the tea ceremony!
It was my second time back at the Grand Harbor Restaurant in Burlingame for a wedding reception. The restaurant is right by the water near the San Francisco International Airport, which leaves many great opportunities for beautiful portraits.
A new trend I've seen at weddings for dessert of cocktail hour snacks are boba! Mark and Cheryl had a boba bar from Sinceretea, and it was very satisfying after a hot day.
Mark and Cheryl took a month to practice their first dance, and it took friends and family by surprise how well they did despite not having too much time to practice for it. We were able to take great shots during the dance, especially when Mark gave Cheryl the "dip."
Just when I'm ready to write this blog for their wedding, I realized I haven't blogged about their engagement session yet. It was a lovely day in December, we traveled to Carmel, where Mark proposed to Cheryl. The engagement session will have to be in another blog, for now, I hope you'll enjoy their wedding photos!
